The Sidewinder Steering System incorporates a cam and roller system driven off the fifth wheel axle coupling, which makes our product unique. The geometry of this system has been specifically designed and constructed to provide excellent steering capabilities, offering superior characteristics over competitive systems.
The hydraulic steering system is effected by two hydraulic rams at the front which activate two rams at the rear which then turn the rear steer bogie. The self-pressureised hydraulic system is charged and controlled using an accumulator and a special patented manifold valve which ensures a very smooth and efficient steer action and automatically re-aligns the steering - should a slight slippage occur due to collision, kerbs etc.
The Sidewinder mechanical steer uses the same system except that steering rods are effected by two steer rods instead of hydraulic operation.
